Healthy Living: Let’s Get Real with Diane Ducharme Gardner, Master Yoga Instructor
This show was taped way back in early winter, well before the pandemic, so pardon the lack of facemasks! But as we head into a COVID-19-induced mental health epidemic, we need this show and the wisdom that master Bikram Yoga instructor Diane Ducharme Gardner has to share. After all, there is a growing mountain of research showing that regular yoga modulates our stress response, which alleviates symptoms of anxiety and depression, and also significantly lowers blood pressure.
But wait, there’s more! Research also suggests that regular yoga will help people who have knee arthritis as well as those who suffer from low back pain, by easing pain as well as increasing mobility and balance.
In this show, master yoga instructor Diane Ducharme Gardner discusses the history of Bikram yoga, and shares some stories of this practice has helped some of her clients. She refers to the intense 90-minute Bikram yoga classes as “an incredibly powerful gift that anyone can give to themselves”. It’s all about self-care, and man, do we need that nowadays!
